Dingman, what size Swampers do you have on your 83 (in your pics at your ding yota link in your sig)?

I plan to go to narrow swampers when I get done with my 80 (the 38.5 x 15.5 that the PO put on are a little big...especially for stock gears and a 20R).

Thanks

My first reaction is that the body is uglier on the auto, and the auto will outcrawl the manual offroad, so do it. But, the auto with 5.29s won't be very happy with the 36's...5.71s would be a much better choice.

You could always lift the manual (it's so pretty) and sell the auto, and just daily drive the manual.

Those are the largest Swamper LTB you can buy- 34x10.5...mine are on 16" rims. The one problem with them is that they only come in load range D in that size. Very stiff, not a good ride for a light truck.
However, I found them to be cheap at $125 ea. at the time. Now, I've priced them at $138 or so. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Well, I guess you're right. The 36's are a little tall for the 5.29's and Auto. Dingit.

Yeah, I figure they won't ride as well as my A/T radials, but I plan to use them mainly offroad and use A/T's for on-road. I have been debating whether to get the 34x10.5 LTB's or the 34x9 TSL's, but I wanted to see some pics of them on a Toy (or better yet, see them in person...). Now I just need to see the narrow TSL's.

Thanks
hupptoy

I can say that those LTB's clean out REALLY well. One of the examples is when my buddies and I leave a mud pit, I shed all my mud in about half (or less) the distance that they do. And my other truck with 36" TSL's, it keeps throwing mud for miles.

I didn't consider that 5.71's, I heard that they are weak.

Properly installed quality 5.71's are NOT weak:
