I have made a verbal agreement to buy this 87 YJ 4.2L BA10 from a friend of mine. The peugot trans 3rd gear synchro is gone as it grinds into 3rd, w/ no other symptoms. I could build the BA10 but rather get a better trans ie the AX15.
I am aware that most BA10's have 21 spline outputs (not all). When I build this xfercase for him several years ago, I do not remember which his was. (I did search and did not find a clear answer to this) and do I have to swap the clutch. Most books list the clutches being different. The 258 in it is from an 85 CJ7, which I installed for him. (The temp sender not being there was the only hang up) Do I need to swap starters? Driveshafts?

BTW this is not a rush, The trans still works, just grinds occasionally.
