I'm in the process of setting up my 3rds with new 5.29s and I have a question regarding the small pinion bearing; does it need to be pressed on or should it slip on & off like the old bearing slipped off the old pinion?
These are Yukon gears (so it says on the box) with Yukon master install kits.
thanks

The pinion bearing is a light press fit....but does not need a press. Just put the flange on and smack it down far enough to get the pinion nut on....then use the nut to push the bearing on the rest of the way. Getting it off is another issue usually. Beating on the end of the pinion could damage the threads or could leave dents in the outer pinion race. I usually use a press for that. The yukon gears are good qual.....probably has the usual "304" on the ring......maybe T8 529 304 67.

Got the 3rd for the front put together last night. It went much easier than the rear and I'm happy with the results.
I want to thank ZUK for building and maintaining his web-site. Without that info (and the pictures), this gear install would probably have not been a success.
Thanks
