I used the Harbor Freight scissor type tranny jack to remove the tranny and transfer case on my '83 as one unit. That particular jack had just enough reach to get the job done and I have a 3" suspension lift and 33" tires. I borrowed the jack from a friend, not sure if I would purchase this particular type of jack or not. I've never used the adapter on a floor jack so I have no comparison.
