I always just assumed it was an emissions thing, but not 100% sure why it does this.


Dave, Jerry explained it a while back as letting the engine rev a little bit higher to help with warming it up a bit faster.

As for disabling it, there are two sensors (well, several, but only 2 temp sensors) on the side of the lower intake manifold. One is for the gauge in your dash, one is for the tranny. There is a great thread with pictures, but...just pull one. If your gauge dies, plug it back in and pull the other one. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

That should cause the tranny to work correctly.
