Hey Ya'll,
The DD transmission has grenaded and I need a new one. Being extremely unfamiliar with Isuzus in general, can someone tell me what transmission is in the Axiom? Or can someone please tell me any online reference for the transmission I can parouse over? Thanks in Advance! Oh, one more question, what would be a decent price for this transmission?

We(fiance' and I) are the 2nd owners and it has 72,000 miles on it. Does the Axiom use the same transmission as another GM model like some Isuzu do, or is it a Isuzu only tranny? If so, could anyone provide this information?

The Axiom has the 4L30E transmission. The same as a lot of other GM trucks.

The 4L30E is not the same as a lot of other GM trucks , they use the 4L60E , totaly difefrent transmission.I already looked into that option , and it would require a lot of work to use one of those. The 4L30E was used in different vehicles like BMW and some other stuff , but you won't find one from GM without changing the crossmember , drive shaft , oil pan clearance issues , and different transmission control box.Try carpart.com or your local wreckers.

But the question was does the Axiom use other GM transmissions like the Rodeo. Yes.

90 and up GM light trucks like the Jimmy and Blazer. I didn't research if the transmission was a direct replacement from platform to platform.

BARAK IS CORRECT IN THE ANSWER HE GAVE, NO GM. TRUCK USED THE 4L30 TRANS . THAT THE AXIOM USES , THE RODEO, USED THE SAME TRANS AS THE AXIOM THE 4L30, THIS WAS NEVER USED IN ANY GM TRUCK, IT WAS USED ON SOME OF THE SMALL ENG CADDIES A WHILE BACK AND SOME OF THE BMWS, NOT THE EXACT SAME TRANS BUT VERY SIMILAR, THE ONLY OTHER TRANS USED, WAS IN THE 2004 RODEO AND THE AXIOM AND THEY WENT TO THE ASIAN WARNER AW30-40L WHICH IS A NEWER VERSION OF THE OLD AW3080LE, THE ONLY TRANS YOU COULD POSSIABLY USE WITH OUT A LOT OF WORK AND FABRICATION WOULD BE THE OLD 700R4 FROM THE S10 2.8 IT COULD BE MADE WORK BUT THEN YOU WOULD HAVE TO ADAPT YOUR TRANSFER CASE TO IT , A BRAND NEW TRANS WILL COST YOU 2800 DOLLARS WITH A ON E YEAR WARRENTY PLUS A 700 DOLLAR DEPOSIT THAT IS REFUNDABLE, BY THE WAY WHAT HAPPENED TO YOURS THAT IS PRETTY LOW MILAGE FOR IT TO BE DONE FOR . Ok, so from reading the posts here, find one for a 2003 Axiom and go with it. I really don't want to modify anything.

Jerry, my fiance told me that the Axiom was shifting hard so my thinking was low on fluid or need new filter. The thing she didn't tell me was it had been like this for awhile (2 or 3 weeks) and low and behold there was definately a puddle of fluid where she had been parking when I went to her house to check things out. She went ahead and drove it to a transmission shop without me knowing it and when they dropped the pan, it was filled with all sort of shavings. Story short, she ran it out of tranny fluid.

IF IT HAS BRONZE LOOKING SHAVINGS IN THE PAN FRT OR REAR IT IS DONE ,, BET ABSOLUETLY CERTAIN WHEN THE NEW TRANS IS INSTALLED THAT THE COOLER LIONE TO THE RAD ARE FLUSHED AT LEAST TWICE AND THROUGHLY , OR IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, AND GOOD LUCK JERRY , DID YOU FIND WHERE THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM ,

Will be sure to have the cooler lines flushed. I'm not sure what shavings were in the pan other than they were shavings, since I haven't actually looked at it. The Axiom is still at a transmission shop bout 45 mins from where I live. When I looked for the leak, there was fluid everywhere around the pan, so who knows about that one. I did check and there is/was a recall about the the tranny pan leaking.
