 Q about threads for block port

Ok, on my 5M theres a port on the side of the block thats part of the oil system. I bought a 1/8" NPT brass plug for it today and it's about the right size, but doesn't wanna start. I've heard some talk about BSP thread... is that what toyota uses?

They are Metric threads, you need to get an adapter like you use when you put on an aftermarket oil pressure gauge or find a place that sells metric brass fitings......

ok, so when you say metric... just metric... like a bolt? Or metric Pipe thread? or what exactly ?

Hard to say which it is, but there are 3 sizes all about the same physical size, 1/8" NPT (0.407" OD, 27 TPI), 1/8" BSP (0.407" OD, 28 TPI) and M10x1.0 (0.394" OD, 25.4 TPI) <- this is what the brake line fittings use.
I have made use of a greased 1/8" NPT pipe thread tap to modify threaded holes, like for my diff. breather fittings. They are not a high pressure fitting and with a bit of Teflon tape, they seem to seal up just fine.

if you cant get it "behind the counter" at a parts store check to see if they have that sunpro kit for the oil pressure gauges 98% sure its in there

Looks like it's M10x1.0. WHy.. b/c my 10x1.25 bolt started to thread but didn't go much. So i'm betting it's the M10x1.0 thread. just can't find anyone that stock a plug in that size!!!

The oil pressure port on the 22RE does use a british 1/8" pipe thread. You can get them at Autometer or at McMaster. The normal 1/8" NPT will go in, but only for about a turn or so.
