I need a new set of key for my 86 pickup. I tried calling the dealership and they said they can't make them for that old of a truck. Any Ideas and where I can try?

The problem with a straight copy is that you end up with an exact copy of an already worn out key. Go to a locksmith and have a new key cut from scratch. If you have the original key with a key number on it it's a simple matter, even if you don't have the original you can stil get a fresh key made, it just takes more time and some trial and error.

I wanna get some "new" keys made for my 4runner and our supra. we don't have any originals, just old copies. whats the deal with a dealership making them? Just go in and ask for new keys?

Heres a somewhat related question. My fuel door key lock and tail gate lock are seized. Can I get new cylinders to match my ignition/door keys? I would like to have a matched set.

i think you can buy toyota key blanks from the dealer and then just bring it to home depot and get them cut hardware stores will have toyota blanks(and other makes). a new key cut off an old one actually turns out really good. it won't be as rounded and is more defined. make 2 copies and keep one as a "new" master.

On the trucks and 4runners, if you pull the passenger door lock, you will find a four digit number on the lock body. Take this number to a good locksmith and he can cut you a new key. You can get new key blanks from the dealer if you want to go that route.
