There are systems developed by Eaton (and a few hot-rodders) that use both a blower and a turbo in tandem. The blower (small unit) gives boost under the curve, then goes into bypass and hands off to the turbo on and above the curve. VW has adopted the system for a small engine package:

Body Damage is Cool
Id say go for it if you have the tools, knowlegde, and know how. Also if its got everything it looks like it does.

I havent seen this particular engine in any monte's yet to my knowledge. Does anyone know how well it will fit as far as fire wall/radiator/oil pan clearance issues? I believe it is a 4.3 and was told Vortec but see no sign of it saying Vortec. As you can see in the pictures I think I will have most everything I need as far as wiring harness goes and If you can also see in the pics I work at a large shop with plenty of room/tools/computer wiring diagrams/mechanics.

keep in mind. 2-500 more $ for ecu programming.
FAST in tennesee will do it for around 3

That wiring is a mess to sort out. too me a while to sort the one I did out. I do not know about fitment into a raider chassis. Is that a 4wd truck? If not I would pass definantly.

Just curious why does the ECU have to be reprogrammed?

Vats Delete mainly. Vehicle Anti theft system. The PCM has to get a signal from the BCM (body module) that the truck is being started, and all is well. If not, it will start, and immedeatly die. I know for a fact that ALL 98 vortec PCM's had VATS endbled in them. 97-96-95 is unknown. Also if you want, emmissions delete. You don't need an Evap canister, or an EGR to worry about replacing.

Here are some good links for you.

Power Block pinout... might not be EXACT, but it will help.

Guy here out an 01 4.3 in his yota truck

I recomend you go beg your local GM parts man for the pinouts of the ECU, sensors, and power distribution block at the VERY LEAST. If you are sharp, you can figure it out with just that.

Worst case scenario, you coudl get in touch with speed scene wiring. Here is the harness you would want from them. It makes me shiver to think how much their harness would be.
Speed Scene Wiring

If you need help, let me know. I've done a few of these <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

What year is it???
The VIN will tell you.

That will help you with a lot of your wiring questions.

YOU WILL NEED WIRING DETAILS FOR THAT MODEL.

"Vortec" is just the heads, and there are several editions of them, not interchangable across 1995.
Usually the valve covers will say "Vortec" if it is.
Many exceptions, though.
And I think after ~1998 most 4.3's were "vortec" heads (?).

Looks very much like a TBI injector?

Thats the "vortec" Multiport CPI.

They started the VORTEC name in fullsize trucks (v8's) in 96. This is THAT style intake, and heads.
