POR-15 is really good stuff. I've only used their gas tank sealer for motorcycles but the rest of their stuff should be just as good. I still have a nice silver splotch on my hallway wall and my work boots (long story ) You have to grind it off, sand paper doesnt work very well against it.
It wont do you much good if your frame is rusting from the inside (usually from plugged drain holes) but will help against rusting from the outside if you live where they use alot of salt on the roads. Glad they use sand (more like rocks) here along with magnesium chloride. Does nasty things to unprotected aluminum but doesnt make the whole vehicle rot away.

Samp, I wirebrushed mine, sprayed some rust convertor down, and the used black engine enamel to cover it back up, as I saw it was resistant to grease and dirt, so why not.

yeah lucky I can't wait to get of college and move south. Maine DOT likes to throw sand/salt down even when there isn't any precipitation. Preventitive measure CROCK OF BULL!! I guess I'm gonna have to get underneath the Troop and start brushing away I guess I'm gonna have to take a break from studying my construction surveying homework and get it done before my problem gets any worse. Good thing it's 15 degrees up here I'll just need a few more brews when I get back lol..Wish me luck...

Yeah its unseasonably warm in wisconsin at 35. So I guess I dont have an excuse not to get under my trooper and start scraping and brushing rust off. Last night I took a hammer an screwdriver and went all around the frame looking for more spots I could poke through. I couldn't poke through in any new spots so thats good. There was quite a bit of surface rust though.

Living in the salt best adds lots-o-chores you have to do to keep your frame up. I personally will be screw drivering, and wire brushing my entire frame (where I can reach) and sealing it all up.
I've learned my lesson from the Amigo, if I had paid more attention and gave her a little more attention most of my problems could have avoided. Poor thing..haha.
Samp, I'll see you next year Got my acception letter in the mail yesterday.

I'm going to get some rocksliders and was wondering if I should put them on before or after I use that Por-15 stuff. The surface will probably have to be clean metal for them to weld and if the Por-15 is hard to get off them I should probly get them welded on before.

are welding them on? if so, the surface definitely should be clean metal. the heat from the welding will also bubble the surround por-15/paint. I would definitely apply after installation.

Another alternative to POR-15 is Rust Bullet. I put some Rust Bullet on my Tahoe sliders from Stinkyfab, and it is holding up nicely after two years of getting sand/salt blasted in the winter (Tahoe is my DD).

-Rob I am getting them welded on so I'll put them on first before using the Por-15.
