Ok so if there is a short in the electrical or a bad temp switch it could cause it to disable OD?

Yes.

Does the cable sound like the most likley bet then?

Yes - get that right first. If you get it to shift 1-2-3 normally, but it won't go into O/D, then start looking at electrical problems.

Ok just drove it to work, don't have an area to test od tho.
Shift from 1 to 2 was just under 3k, 2 to 3 was at like 3700, and no od at like 3200. I need to adjust it again later and try again

Ok re-adjusted it to mitsu specs. There is like 1 3/8" at wide open, and at idle there is nothing. Not sure how to make it read 1 3/8" wot, and 1/32" idle it doesn't seem possible. Anyway it shifts at like 2900rpm when not under load no od tho. got to 60mph 3800 rpm and it didn't shift into od so not sure if i need to get to 4k or what. Maybe it is a sensor. Gonna try it on the highway soon and find out if it will or will not go into od. Shrug work in progress.

Loosen it to 1 5/16" and report back. I am pretty sure you have some electrical issue in the ODSV, ODSV relay, or the ground circuit thru the coolant temp switch. Try grounding the lead to the coolant temp switch and see if you get 4th. Make sure you get the right one. Two wire gismos are ecu or gauge sensors, and larger. Somebody post the man a pic of the right one. If no 4th when the wire is grounded, you (probably) eliminated the water switch as a cause, or at least the only one. That leaves either the shifter switch (try jumpering around the switch), the relay, the solenoid valve, or a hydraulic fault or mechanical damage in the tranny.

Noticed somethin. At cold start in the morning it seems to to be in 2nd gear. Its real laggy and choppy off the line, then if you mash the gas it downshifts. Once its warm it acts fine but at cold it seems like 2nd is the first gear.... if that helps in anyway. Not sure if my adjustment is a bit off and doing that or what....

You may have a line pressure problem or another internal problem. I'd suggest taking it to a transmission shop and have them check the pressures.

I agree. You can check it yourself, too. Two pressure ports near the rear, driver's side, of the tranny to test governor and line pressure. I think I used a 1/8" npt fitting in the ports. Need a 300psi gauge - try a hydraulics shop. Tranny shop should check it for pretty cheap, though.
