well i checked resistance on the coil wire. i was'nt sure what it was supposed to be so i just put coil wire in another truck i have and truck started right up so i pretty much ruled that out. i swapped out ecu with one that i knew to be good and still nothing. i read that if a power transistor is bad it will give you 1 of 3 codes. i do not have any codes. can anyone think of any condition where it could be bad but not give any codes?

well i just wanted to update this thread. i hooked up with Jerry Lemond on the phone, he emailed me some wiring diagrahms, i took the cordless phone, along with a 9volt battery, and a test light out to the garage. Jerry proceeded to walk me through some troubleshooting and we came to conclusion that power transistor is the culprit.go figure, and no codes either, point worth noting ,i think. Jerry is sending me one so as soon as i get it i will try it and post how it turns out. i'm hopefully optimistic

HOUSTON , WE HAVE LIFTOFF i'm very happy to report the problem is fixed. i got the new power transistor in mail from jerry lemond today, installed it and she fired right up. what a bugger to get that thing out, and the new one back in. if you ever have to do this job , have patience. it's really weird how it went on me, but it did none the less. i was quite discouraged after a couple weeks of no progress. i know most of the regulars here know this, but for those who dont, jerry lemond "IS" "THE MAN" . i would have never figured this out if it was not for him, both walking me thru troubleshooting on phone and sending me the part i needed next day mail. he's a helluva nice guy and would recomend him to everyone. jerry thanks again.
