Anybody feel they know what or who Yukon Gear is? Yukon isn't a manufacturer, they seem to be a packager.
At first I thought Yukon may be a Randy's house name, but now lots of companies sell Yukons.
Inside the Yukon gear set packaging you might find US Gear, Precision Gear, Motive, or even some yet unidentified manufacturer's part. I can see a value in packaging install kits (bearings, sleeves, bolts, nuts, etc). Why repackage rings and pinions? Why would US or Precision let their products be sold under another name, perhaps a cut-rate name?
I just don't get it, but I don't get alot of things .

I think that you are on the right track. I believe that the places selling Yukon gears are getting them from Randy's. Randy's is huge, they likely buy in bulk at a discount rate and then repackage the gears in their boxes so it looks like their product. Kind of like buying a Pontiac Vibe instead of a Toyota Matrix. That is my theory at least...

Yukons do cost more than any other gearset. The guy that sets up my gears will only warranty gears if they are yukons b/c he is not sure of the quality of other gear sets.

Maybe Randy's started it all by assembling kits that include gearsets from the better manufacturers, but not from any particular maker. Then other sellers bought into the idea and chipped in to make a powerful gear seller's club. I took a very close look at their catalog, available at http://www.yukongear.com, and do not find any address or location information. Lots of good gear tech info though. Yukons may be very good, but they can't be the best manufacturer because Yukon is not a manufacturer. Yukons are a repackage of all the better makes including Precision Gear, US Gear, Superior, Motive, and who knows what else. You may someday find a Genuine Gear in a Yukon package! Anyway, everyone seems to have good experiences with Yukons. Andy

You may someday find a Genuine Gear in a Yukon package! For heaven's sake never say that again! LoL Anyways, I thought everyone was pretty well aware that Yukon "gears" are reboxed top notch gear sets. But then again I thought everyone referred to ZUK's gear install page as a bible I wouldn't be a bit surprised if U.S., Precision, Superior, etc used the same gear cutters at one point or another. Not sure about Motive as they're made in Italy. My useless $00.02 ~R
