The Trooper was pulling to the left and I brought to my dealer. They almost fixed it. At least that is hardly pulling anymmore to the left. Ok. they solve that but they messed something up instead.
Now the truck is very sensitive to groovings in the road or similar uneven road conditions.
That means it gets pulled to the left or right as soon as I hit a bad piece of road.
Feels like as if the wheels can be forced in either direction much easier than before. I have the feeling of almost having no control over the steering on bad roads.
That is really annoying and I wanted to check with you what it could be they messed up.

Thanks
Stefan

Did they attempt to realign the front end? Maybe they did not get everything back into spec perfectly? Can't speculate your exact problem but know your front end alignment is a series of adjustments that can vastly affect handling and steering even though they are for the most part imperceptible changes. You have to ask questions in order to get answers.

When I first bought my rodeo I got new tires and had it aligned and it does the same thing on grooved highways, follows the grooves. I think it might need more toe in. I know there is a bulletin (IB00-06-S001) for '98-00 Rodeos with a change in the alignment specs. It changed from 0mm-(+/-)2mm to 0mm-(+)2mm. So apparently they dont want any toe out, only toe in up to 2mm. Maybe whoever did yours didnt look at the updated specs.

I'm starting to get used to it but will get it aligned again once I get the 'pop' noise in front figured out and fixed. Hopefully they can get rid of the problem.

Thanks. I also forgot to mention that the car is reacting a lot more to wind gusts from the side. It is almost impossible to keep in straight line when gusts are coming from the side.
I am constantly correcting.
Thanks

They hosed up the alignment. Take it back. What you are describing could be from several alignment parameters or a combination of several. Take it back, be nice, take them for a ride and then let them fix it.

Good Luck,
Michael

Yeah, I'd take it back and have them realign it. Sounds like they screwed up the caster (causes the vehicle to wander and needs constant steering correction).

Single shims behind only one of the bolts for the upper a-arm. I'll have to pull out the book, but this should give you the ability to change caster.

....................I Add shims
(Ball joint) o....I
....................I Remove shims
This is the left upper a-arm. The circle is the ball joint. By adding shims to the front and removing them from the rear you make your caster more positive (moves balljoint backwards).
