im in the proces of searching for a tranny/t.c. for a friend. he has a 1986 4runner with the auto tranny. as per the f.a.q. i believe the he would have a a340f. is this correct? if this is right anyone have one they are looking to part with?

the vin plate says a340 on the vin plate. but dosent give the version. according to the faq, the a340f was the only possibility for this truck, being an 86 22re truck with manual hubs. its funny though, another part of this site tells me that the a340h was available in 86 if you had auto hubs. but its not listed below as a possibility below.
A340F 1984-1999 22RE, 22RTE 4 2.80 ??? ??? Found on vehicles with manual hubs and V6 models after '96.
A340H 1988-1995 3VZE 4 2.80 ??? Mechanical Linkage on Side Found on vehicles with ADD, transfer case integral to transmission.

is this definitive enough to go tranny hunting?

hey i got one if you want one cheap i replaced the solenoids in it but never figured out the problem personally i think it was my computer. fluid is nice and red.

if the transfer case can be seperated its an a340F the H has a hydralic control transfer case which runs off the same ATF, not gear oil. also the F series transfer case shifter is directly bolton on top like a 5 spead. H has the linkage on the driverside.

ok the one i have here has a t/c shifter kind of like the one for the auto transmission. its not a bolt on top deal like my 84 has. this means it is a a340h. thanks. where would i look to cross reference which tranny and t/c would be a plug and play install for this?
