Its not to bad once you look at it for awhile. at the end of the description they stated the new 07 wrangler would be available with a diesel engine, but it was a bit unclear if that would be sold in north america.

Looks like they finally abandoned the windshield hinge. Just as well they've been pretty much unused since they started bolting bars on the windshield frame. Too bad, nothing like wheeling with the top off and the windshield down! Dang! Longer wheelbase, 3.5" wider track! sound like their trying to turn it into a hummer! next thing you know they will have IFS. Too bad they are hung up on the Dana 35. If they really cared the least they could do is make the rear Dana 44 standard. Heck, the people buying new Jeeps wouldn't mind the few hunderd bucks more in cost!(though most wouldn't know the difference) Heck then I might even buy one! Congratulations for reading more carefully than me. They harp on the exposed hinges (big deal) but they were not apparent in the pictures. What's the point? Will that be the last thing that ties it to its ancestors? Nah, that will be the grill! I've never seen a TJ or even a YJ with the windshield folded down. Too much trouble! Oh well!

The dang thing looks like it was disigned for the soccer moms instead of wheelers. It is toooo smoooth and dainty for me. IMO I think Chrysler is just trying to build it down instead of better. I can only think of two things that the Jeep needs, some REAL sun visors and heated side view mirrors. The rest is after market. BTY,has anyone test drove the new Commander yet? My wife and I have and OMG, what a machine. That hemi kicks . Of course now my wants to trade in her Aviator for one. But since we accepted a 5 yr. 0% finance on the Aviator we are upside down at this time. It will be paid off in 2 yrs and then she can have whatever she wants. Come to think of it, would'nt a hemi be sweet in a tj?

Have you ever test driven a commander off-road... OMG it's just as good as a Dodge Dakota. It's such a shame they killed the XJ for that blasphemy. I donÆt know if you have read the new 4 wheeler but it scored less than an H3. IÆve seen a couple of the weekenders on the trails up here and at the dunes, it may have been the driver, but the H3 get anywhere. Rating a jeep below that??? ACK!
The new wrangler looks fine to me. Supposedly the frame is stiffer and he coils are softer. It also has a lot of the amenityÆs a lot of the Toy and Mitsu guys wish jeeps had and covet about there vehicle. I think the older TJs and YJs are going to start becoming more like the CJs and the CJs are going to get like Wileys.

i'll have to say the commander is a sweet ride. i test drove one last aug at camp jeep. i was impressed it was really smooth on the street. i didnt get to go off road with it the line was a bit long. I saw that article too in 4 wheeler mag. it did do really bad on there test. but like they said if your going to get stuck hope you get stuck in a commander cause its soo comfy.
but ya my girl wanted to trade in her Xtera for one after the test drive, and i said the same thing wait till you pay yours off first then mabey, cause they are a good buc.
