as long as we don,t sell the chinese all the scrap metal someone will always be able to modify the bumpers to be able to do a little trail tree removal. As far as the v6 goes one good thing it doesn,t take up much room in the engine bay I sure could use a bit more room under the hood of my cj7.

Okay, glad people now understand the Beach Buggy part of NCBBA... whew, though that I was going to have to do a lot of typing....

The FISHING rods are 12 footers, not the fish. I have seen a 12 foot shark landed once, but if I had a 12 foot anything else to haul in, I surely would need a Jeep to help me with it.

As for the plastic children's Jeep of 2007, sure, I agree, it's the end of an era for sure, but 1986 was the end of something good and the beginning of something else that wasn't all that bad. My 91 has those semi-original roll bar supports that went away the following year. Glad I got one, I don't normally keep a seat in the back anyway, so why have that goofy thing to hold the seat belts out in the sun to get faded, right? The folks at DC have a lot of safety issues they have had to implement since `86. Over time, the folks that make the laws and safety standards, the ones that wear goofy clothes and still don't know how to take the top off their Jeeps, come up with new requirements. DC has done okay, I think, with making changes in a way that will keep the tradition of the Jeep, until now. I won't buy an `07. I'll keep my `91 for a long time. I hope DC goes back to the Jeeping side of Jeeps and gets of the pavement with their design team for `08.

As for the V6. My YJ's I6 4.0 gets crappy gas mileage, my ex's Explorer 4.0 V6 gets twice the miles out of the same fillup. Granted, my Jeep will drag her Ford down the street and her's won't budge my Jeep, but these are the flip flop sides to different technologies. As for space. I don't mind the fact that I don't have any space up front in the engine box, but if you stick a V6 in there, it will eliminate that space ya have on the sides... I'm just waiting to see the sideways V6... will remind me so much of my Mercury Sable I just won't bother.... HA.

So, my $0.02 for the day. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

NCBBA, I doubt this will happen. Someone above said that 10% of the Jeeps sold are used offroad; I suspect the per cent is much greater, but still a minority of buyers.

my wife infomed me after her car is paid of we will get me a new truck.well the only trucks i would own is chevy, dodge, jeep,or maybey even toyota. with the way that dc is going with their trucks and jeeps forget them there is nothing i like about them anymore. I will just have to convince her to let me use that money to re do my jeep compleatly(probaly cheaper than a new truck anyway). but if i fail i guess i will hafta pick the new chevy with the diesel. now dont get me wrong there will always be a special place for jeeps just not the new ones.If i wanted comfort i would own a escalade.

out of all the jeeps in this town the d**n gremlin had to invade mine

I've done so much, with so little for so long i can practicly do anything with nothing

Thats silly, why on earth would someone want to buy a jeep unless they would take it off road? Look at the NPS's signs for off road vehicle access points (called "ramps" on the costal areas).... its a JEEP! ORV=Off Road Vehicle=JEEP.... silly yuppies....

Short Pump We all have an image in our head of what we think we look like.. Some of the images will never come true to us. Getting a Jeep might help fulfill some image problems to some folks.
I see Jeeps every day that I KNOW will never see dirt. Anyway as long as the present owner has them. I see people driving their Jeeps and thinking they are roughing it where I would drive a Caddy! I bet they go home thinking they have just done a bit of four wheeling.

I'm not in the market for a Jeep, probably not for several years, but I'll probably check out the new Wranglers later in the spring. My attitude right now is to wait and see how the new Wangler checks out offroad. I suspect the V-6 coupled to the 6-speed tranny will be okay. I don't think it's too great of a departure from the '05. Let's see how the '06 pans out over the next 6 months.

tru, tru, I do like going and playing with the dealerships.... take them for test drives, they fuss when you want to see if it will drive over one of those parking lot tire stop things (cement things to keep people from driving up on sidewalks, whatever they are called....) Anyway, to play in them and listen to how quietly the doors latch, to feel like you are driving in a brand new Daewoo or something.... Then laugh and tell them "this damn thing will never grow up to be a REAL Jeep...." They normally nod and accept the fact that they are selling cars, not Jeeps....
