If you are happy with the performance(mileage/power/ride) of the 30's, I would buy new 30's when it comes time for new tires. If you want better mpg and power, you should go with the 28" tires.

Yours is the first I have heard of a 3.0 5spd comming stock with anything but 4.10's or 4.56's. I could see the the taller gears for a commercial type rig that was going to be hauling a lot of weight on a constant basis. I wonder if the original owner was planning on a camper conversion or running a commercial bed.
