First off let me say I know next to nothing about clutches, but I am a mechannical designer so I know I wont get lost in your translation. I've always been an automatic guy. But I must say the stick is growing on me.

O.K. Just bought my 89 pickup deluxe (love this truck) with 125,000 miles in november of 05. Just recently (127,000 miles), it seems that the clutch doesn't engage as well as it used too. It seems to catch 1/2 way to 3/4 of the way up on the clutch pedal. The T.O. bearing was replaced last summer (so I'm told by the last owner). Also, around the same time, the clutch pedal sqweaks alittle when fully pressed, but not all the time. There is no actually noise other than the sqweak or vibration that I can hear or feel.

Do I need a new clutch soon? Maybe some kind of an adjustment needs to be made? Or could the extremely cold weather here in the north east cause this?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have an answer to your question, but can relate on one point, the squeek <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />. It only does it when i push all the way down, and my clutch is fairly new, so i don't think that has affect on it's performance.....could be wrong though. As for the the catch on the level of clutch pedal, stupid question but have you checked the fluid? that or the line might need to be bled. Every once in a while i'll have an intermitten issue where the pedal has to be pushed as far as i can possible get it to get the truck to shift....don't know what the cause is as well...but doesn't happen very often at all.

Generally a worn out clutch will start slipping when in higher gears under a load. You do not need a new clutch....maybe a little tweak and some lube on the pedal but your clutch is fine.

If the TO bearing was just replaced...my guess was they either put a new clutch in it or it was in very good shape and didn't need it. Anyone who goes thru the work to put a TO bearing in and ignores a bum clutch should be shot....twice.

Definently bleed the line. Same procedure as bleeding brakes.. clutch bleeder valve is on the clutch slave cylinder (below the starter). That should make it engage quicker. If this is your first manual, it may be learning how to drive it has worn the clutch a bit. Yota clutches are very durable, and you don't have anyhting to worry about until it starts slipping. As long as it doesn't slip.. you should be all set for now.

Hope taht helps,
