My 4wd Indicator light has been on since I bought my trooper, but I never bothered to fix it because the 4WD worked fine. I installed manual hubs about a month ago and tested my 4WD and it worked then too.
Today it snowed about 4in. After work I hit some unplowed roads and parking lots to play around. I had the hubs locked and tried to put it in 4wd and it didn't seem to work. I was looking out the window at the front wheel and it wasn't spinning and I couldn't feel any difference so I doubt the FR wheel was spinning. I tried 4HI and 4Low.
Do you think the SOTF finally bit the dust or what?
FYI: I've had it for 1.5 years so thats how long the 4wd light has been on.

Your SOTF actuator is probably stuck. Read this FAQ for info that might be helpful.

It is a good idea to cycle in and out of 4WD once a month or so to keep the actuator limbered up...

BTW the FAQ was assembled by Ryan Endres, who also resides in Madison.

Thanks for the link. I think I might need a new VSV assembly. The blue valve tested at 40 OHMS, but the gray was at 28 OHMS. Is 28 OHMS still ok or do you think its bad. They don't give a range; they just say 42 OHMS is normal.
EDIT
Update: I was messing around with it again today and I put it in 4 HI with engine off then started it up. The 4wd indicator light did not come on. Cycled from 4hi to 4low and 2wd and the light stayed off. So now I'm still stuck in 2wd, but the indicator light is always off now.
