I didn't notice the wrangler comment, sunder is right on that part, the 225 was 63 to 71 with the exception of 66 in the cj's.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
If the Jeep originally had a 2.5L, then the 2.8L V6 will bolt up to the Jeep AX5 tranny with the stock 2.5L bellhousing. You'll have to use the 2.8L flywheel. If the Jeep originally had a 4.0 in it and still has the AX15 tranny, then you'll have to use a 96-00 Dodge Dakota 2.5L bellhousing and a Camaro flywheel. Probably not worth all of this effort.

i agree with valley and sunder on this compleatley. i belive it was a ford designed engine that both jeep and gm used.they were terrible engines the didnt last long before stuff went. tell your friend he may be better off with a 4.3 if the bolt pattern is the same on the trans as the 2.8. This is the same engine as used in late 80's early 90's CHev Lumina and Beretta. Guy i knew took a 2.8 out of his XJ and dropped it in his Beretta, said it was a direct bolt on. Yeah right <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />
