I need to know if an the engine out of an 86 jeep MJ will fit in a 90 wrangler. I am selling a 2.8 liter v6 and the guy wants to know if it will fit in his wrangler. He said that he already has a v6 in there. I would greatly appreciate some help on this.

I don't think so. Also no V-6 ever came stock in a wrangler so he is already has some weird bell housing or an adapter.

He bought his jeep with the v6 engine. The previous owner put that engine it. I have the 2.8 liter and the tranny to go with it. So you don't think that he could make that set up work?

Probably, but the 2.8 is a poor choice for a new motor. No power and emmisions stuff out the <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />

if you are truly his friend, you will not sell him the 2.8. you will take it to the metal recycling place in your town. the 2.8 is the definition of a turd motor.

i agree with valley and sunder on this compleatley. i belive it was a ford designed engine that both jeep and gm used.they were terrible engines the didnt last long before stuff went. tell your friend he may be better off with a 4.3 if the bolt pattern is the same on the trans as the 2.8.
out of all the jeeps in this town the d**n gremlin had to invade mine

i think the v6 referred to in the thread is the one that came in the pre '87 xj's. it's a POS. the buick is alright from what i've heard. never ran one.
