I think I found my huckleberry, I was digging around a pick and pull today and found a VIN H XJ which is an 87 I do believe. It had a 5 speed in it, It was raining so I didn't get under it but I thought the 87 XJ 4.0L had a BA10/15 and those are 4 speeds right? So it would be an AX15 if a 5 spd, right? Thanks for any info. This one has a 5 spd is why I am asking and that baby is mine if so.

I'm afraid you'll find it's a BA10/5. It was used in Cherokees and Comanches the same years it was used in Wranglers. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

That's what I figured, but my BA10 is a 4spd, and the XJ was a 5 spd. Maybe the difference between a BA5 and BA10? The XJ is of course is a 4.0L and my YJ is a 4.2L, That may be how they decided to put them in.

BA10 comes in 4 and 5 speed versions like the AX. Your YJ is a 4? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

And I didn't know the AX15 came in a 4spd either....

And that means more searching for an AX15 local too...

Not the AXI5! I didn't say that! I meant AX4 and AX5. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
