I have read on this forum of balancing issues with specific Toy factory rims... But has anyone ever noticed an issue with the BFG AT KO tires? My truck had them when I bought it and I felt that they were way out of balance. They were worn but far from worn out, but I bought new ones anyway. Well 500 miles in and these seem to "wobble" the same way. They were put on by a reputable tire place here... is it just the tires or what? When I am cruising at 50MPH they just ride like sh*t. Any thoughts?

As long as I keep my KMs balanced, they ride fine. Mine are 33x12.50s.

Had a set on my 99 Grand Cherokee, and experienced no problems at all. They lasted almost 50,000 miles.

Perhaps it is a problem with your truck's suspension?

I doubt it is the tires. Most likely a poor balance job. When I put tires on my 4Runner, and after 3 tire dealers (one that *claimed* to have the proper adapter) and still having balance issues, I went to the closest Toyota dealer (25 miles) and had them balanced there. That was 60K miles ago and they are still smooth.

Hopefully you have a tire shop (or dealer) near by that has the lug-centric adapter for their balancer so that you can have them properly balanced.

Better yet, a shop that has the Hunter GSP 9700 for the best balance.

I have stock-size BFG AT KOs on my 06 Taco. They give me a very slight shimy at high speeds often enough to be annoying. The Toyota dealer that put them on said 3 of the 4 tires were out of round and couldn't be balanced correctly. I have been meaning to go to the shop where I bought them (I originally had them on my 4runner for around 3K miles) to see what they can do. Just haven't found the time. If Toyota is right, these tires suck - especially given the price tag. I had zero shimy in the 06 Taco with the OEM tires (rode them for 250 miles) and a shimy in the 4runner with the BFGs. It's bullsh*t.

I believe I agree with you JohnJerk... This is the second set of them I have had, and both times they rode like sh*t. I love the look and traction these tires have, but still would like to have a tire that rides DECENT at worst. These just plain suck. Been on for probably 600 miles and ride like a worn out mudder with 20,000 miles. Anyone wanna buy a nice set of BFG AT's for cheap?

I disagree, I love my A/Ts. I had a problem off the bat with them being out of balance...they said the same thing to me about being "out of round." I took it to my suspension guy (who kicks arse), had him balance them (with the adapter) and have had an excellent ride for the last 65k miles. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />
Also, if you ride on an unbalanced wheel for even a little while, you are screwed for the life of the tires; you develop wear patterns which can never be corrected. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
These tires rock my world, and in a few months when I buy new tires, it will be BFG A/Ts.

That's what we use where I work. Like I said, no problems with balance.

I bought mine from discount tires and they balanced mine without a problem. I have a 95 Tacoma. I have 31X10.5 on there. They ride great. No vibrations all the way upto 85mph. (that is the fastest I have taken these tires). And like everyone else said, these tires rock.

We have people buy BFG's all of the time from The shop I work at. BFGs, at least to Me, jsut don't like to balance. Let alone *keeping-balance*

Just about a month ago we had sombody come in for a mount and balance for 4 BFG A/T's.

I mounted these tires, and balanced them myself. They balanced out perfectly. A little tire-hop on the balancer, but normal for BFGs.

2 weeks later, they gentalman came back. BAD vibration. I re-balanced the tires. They took a few tries to get balanced again.

In *My* experiance, BFG's don't like to stay balanced.
