Need a Spot
My truck has a rough idle. It has a surge like when the A/C is on. It doesnÆt do it until it warms up. Any suggestions?

How about some more info. Year, model, engine, mileage...things like that. Last service?

It's an 88, 22R. Last serviced in November.

Mine's having the same problem right now. I'm trying to find the idle up adjustment for the A/C. Someone said it was under the dash behind the glove box I believe but I can't find that thread! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

Basically, when the A/C is turned on the RPM's will drop if it's cold. I can give it gas and the idle up tries to increase the RPM but drops back down and runs rough. If I switch the A/C off and then back on, the rpm's will drop back down and run rough again.

Once it warms up the idle up will kick in and keep the rpm's up as long as the A/C is on.

Check the setting of the A/C Amplifier RPM knob. It may be set to cut the A/C off at too high an idle speed. AC Amp is behind the glove box, small black box with a knob labelled "RPM". I think it should be set to cut off just below the normal idle speed (to keep the engine from bogging down) and it works in conjunction with the idle-up valve that boosts the idle speed when the A/C is on.
