When we talk about insurance we need to divide it into section the companies that advertise for the masses and the upscale insurance companies. We all know the big 5 of insurance they advertise to the average consumer on TV shows and sporting events.
But there are insurance companies that only advertise to the upscale market in publication that we as average Joes donÆt subscribe to or know exist. So just because youÆve never heard of them doesnÆt make bad or less reliable.
If you donÆt watch some of the car shows on Speed Vision maybe you never heard of Grundy or Hagerty Insurance for Vintage, Classic or Hot Rod cars. But bet you last dollar that the people that can pay $100,000 to well over a million dollars for a car have their insurance with one of specialty insurer.
Most people have never heard of The CHUBBY group but they insurance some of the more expensive homes and cars. The big 5 of insurance companies donÆt want the exposure of a multi million dollars home lost and its contents.
Bottom line each group has a market and serves it well. If IÆve got a classic car IÆm going to the specialty company. Why because they know what it took to get in the condition it in and that only about 300 shops specialize in restoring cars frame up you just canÆt go down to the corner body shop for this type of work. (why do you think Jay Leno has his own garage and restoration guys)
EveryoneÆs spends his or her money the way they see fit. But when I restore a car I want a stated value policy and if something happens to it I donÆt need the hassle of its not worth that amount its not in the Kelly Blue Book.
I listed a couple of websites as some one requested.
