1994 V6 4x4 California truck, 138k miles, stock everything. I wanted to get your guys opinion on an idea I had. I was thinking about having a straight exhaust pipe made which I could just bolt in place of my catalytic converter (in between smog checks of course). It appears if I buy two flanges I could just have a straight pipe welded to each of them, unbolt the old cat converter, bolt in the new straigt through pipe and I would be all set. Anyone think the power increase would be worth it ? Any potentional check engine light problems etc ? O2 sensor is right before Cat in picture below (hopefully the link will work) ![[Linked Image]](c:\cat.jpg) or http://www.kodakgallery.com/PhotoVi...sperpage=12&navfolderid=2006

If someone could tell me how to add an image from my hard drive to this post I would appreciate it. Or if you can only post if the picture is on a website, let me know. ( I don't think the way I have it setup now is working) Thanks !

In addition, if you are caught it is a big fine for tampering with the SMOG devices in a vehicle that is registered for street use in California!!!! [/color]

Not sure it would be worth it. I don't even have a lift and if someone (maybe a cop) is sitting next to me, he will easily be able to see my exhaust. Too easy to see since it's right under the drivers seat. I wouldn't mess with it. The fine for no cat(s) is quite steep from what I've heard....

W/o the cat you would have no increase in power in the area powerband most of us use w/the 3.0, you might get some power above 4500(not really a usable rpm range).
If you are looking for a better flowing exhaust, pick up a new cat at Autozone for $55(universal) or $75(bolt-on).

If the cat is getting clogged you will deffinately notice a difference, otherwise a highflow cat will give you the same benefit as a straight through setup about 5hp and With a highflow you won't have to ever touch it. Don't cali trucks have 2 O2 sensors anyways?
I saw someone had posted a cheep highflow cat here before, I think it was like $75 or something like that.

Don't cali trucks have 2 O2 sensors anyways? Not sure what year they started on the 3.0, my '90 only has 1, same with my '91 4cyl. I know that in '92 4 cyl.s started coming with 2, I am not sure how long this was done for.
