We have an industrial hose/rubber place here. We simply had them fab a new line for our Corolla when it went south. Was leaking right at the banjo fitting. Was a lot cheaper than hitting up the dealer for the part.

A commercial truck or tractor place might be able to help you out too.

My son had a leak in his 89 Celica and the hose was real expensive. Found out the same hose was used on the Camry for about 5 years and plenty of them in the junkyards to pick from. Too bad there isn't a x-ref to a 4-runner or something you could grab it out of.

I'd think it would be too short out of a truck; given the Corolla reservoir is on the pax side, and the actuator is on the driver's side. Keep in mind the newer cars are FWD.

Up here, I'd be a little hard-pressed to go for a used high pressure line unless I was simply broke. Winters are pretty tough on hoses and plastic.

the hydraulic shops around here do not deal with metric lines (i.e. 10mm). so i may buy a flare tool for the 10mm line, and add flares to the hard lines near the Toyota end fittings. i think 10mm flare tools create a bubble flare, so i'd then need bubble flare to probably AN fittings adaptors. then use an earl's power steering hose or equivalent. seems crazy, but i'd really prefer not to spend $400 on a OEM hose. i've got to see what adaptors earl's offers to maybe simplify things.

I looked in the parts fiche and it looks like if you find the metal part of the pressure tube then you can get the rubber part from the dealer for much cheaper.

Unfortunately this part only goes on T100's.

does anyone know if the hose fitting at the pump is a standard power steering connect?

and how about the steering box fitting?

i'm finding that the 10mm hard line is going to be very difficult to deal with. the idea was to cut the tube at the pump and box, flare, and use adaptors. but it seems most of the adaptor companies (earl's, edelmann) don't deal with power steeing lines at such a small size (normally PS is at 14 mm and up).

i don't think chopping up the old hose assembly to re-use the end connects is going to work out.

If you can get the hard parts as suggested in the previous post, then look someone up and get the rest fabbed as I had suggested above; again, check out the trucker and tractor places.

OR-- cast around at www.car-part.com and see if you can find a T100 anywhere.

thanks for the suggestions.

the hard line section at the gear box may be available if it is the same fitting as the low pressure side. carrol showed me that this part is available. but the hose connection to this hard line would need to be custom.

the hard line at the pump end has a banjo connection with a side tap for some vacuum/engine rpm feedback. this hard line section is obviously not available, and i have not found any PS hose/connector company which offers this piece.

the used parts yards don't deal with power steering hose assemblies, just pumps, racks, etc.

i did find a pic of a possible solution, but my mig welder won't suffice for this i don't think. i'd have to find a welder with a TIG. this guy TIG welded an AN fitting onto his high pressure line. this is a great solution, assuming one is a skilled TIG welder. i was going to do something similar by flaring (metric bubble on the 10 mm line), but i have not been able to find a bubble to AN adaptor.

any ideas?

Any reason you couldn't do a standard flare with flare nut and use an inverted flare to AN adapter?

What is the size is the tubing? Generally, Toyota has used SAE sized tubing (like their brake lines- 3/16"), which makes it easy to modify them.

i'm all ears...

the line OD is .4" (so ~ 10mm line). do you think I could put a standard flare on that line? the company that makes my flare kit (mastercool 71475, flare kit ) says it won't work. specifically, they said the 3/8" line flares would not work with my 10mm line. their kit will only put on a 10mm metric bubble flare, which i cannot find adaptors to AN.

are other flare kits able to work around this problem?
