^ This is what I found to be the case when mine wasn't working...
I replaced the fuse/resistor-block with a junkyard piece, and it's been working fine ever since.

Pull the thing out again and take a very close look at all of the connections - some of which are almost impossible to get a good look at because of the configuration... Perhaps a flashlight might help.
