would now be a good or bad time to ask if you put stabil in the t-100s gas tank?
the pictures look great.

nope. just started it up though after 15 months of not running. it started in less than 5 seconds.

exhaust is unhooked before the cat. open headers sound good!!!

rock on! I had a snowblower get way gummed up without stabil after only 6 months, but it wasnt a toyota...

Its kinda fun to have the exhaust off. I offroaded my old sooby and knocked the exhaust of from the cat back, and boy did it sound cool (it had a little 1.8L motor...)

No exhaust eats exhaust valves though!

So Im looking at doing a SAS this summer, wondering about overall cost besides the axle, where can i buy some spring hangers etc so i dont have to fab it all myself...also looking for where to purchase highsteer, etc...

Surlynkid got any advice...ErikB how many friends does it take to do it in one weekend...

it will all be custom. nobody makes it off the shelf. since the t-100 is so rarely done, it will take more than a weekend. cost depends on whether you do it like me or like erikb. it just depends on your situation. you have drag link and tie rod and all the ends. you have a new driveshaft. all the parts on the axle that may need to be replaced like u-joints, and brakes. you need brake lines. new master cylinder. it all adds up.

If you've got everything ready to go (tools, parts, and knowing how its all going to go together), then one friend should be plenty. The two I've done were done in a weekend that way, but we weren't completely ready beforehand either time, so they were LONG days.

But like Surlynkid said, this swap is a lot more custom than on the mini-trucks, so you're not likely to be able to buy all off the shelf parts like you can for the mini's, and you are likely to run into some unexpected problems that might slow you down. With some serious pre-planning and research, I'm sure you could do it though.

Sky-manufacturing.com's "full width" front spring hanger would work for a T100, but you'd have to figure out something different for the shackles. That, and the steering (drag link/tie rod lengths) are really the only things different than a swap on a mini. Steering info you could get from others here I'm sure.

We set up Surlykids quite a bit different though since he's wanting to run such large tires. We put the shackles in front so the tire would move forward instead of back when it goes up, and moved the axle further forward than normal. And yes, since this is far from the "standard" way of doing a SAS, there have been some unexpected problems...

How long til your steering arrives and you can bolt it in and drive it, Scott?

erikb,

shaker shipped my tie rod and drag link friday. the driveshaft is here. i cut off the cat today and then cut/rotated the flange so that the cat now sits horizontal and clears the bracket you made. i just need to weld up the rest of the exhaust. i realize that i need to cut off the rear torsion bar mount on the passenger side for the exhaust to slip through there cleanly. how many exhausts get TIG.

the ford shock towers are not braced from behind, but we put two passes of 5/32" ER70S2 tig on both sides and the bottom. it is welded to the original IFS mount. the weld is twice as thick as the tower. that thing will never come off.

my front tcase output has a single u-joint flange, so i need to take that off. i have a triple drilled one to replace it.

as soon as the paint dries, i will bolt it all up.

i need about a 5 degree shim from rogerb to get things where i want them, but he has been on vacation.

it is all about to wrap up. i am here next week to work on it, but on vacation 3/4-3/11. it'll be all done (including the little stuff) by 3/31.

How come no one has taken a T100 rear axle housing and used it up front? Seems like that thing is pretty beefy and would be cheap to get at a junk yard. Is the conversion to knuckles you can steer too difficult to deal with?

how would you do that and get the third offset to the passenger side? you could get diamond axles (fror) to make you a front axle housing designed to use a t100 third. it would have birfields though which you would have to buy custom. it would still be low pinion as well. before i went to that expense, i'd get a high pinion kingpin 60 custom made. the only nice thing would be matching drop out thirds, so you'd only need one spare.
