Get the 6x12... It has brakes, while the 5x8 does not.

I'll second that, I've towed a few things with my 4Runner and the trailers with the ebrakes are much easier to stop. Believe it or not, towing my Supra (same weight as my truck) was easier with the ebrake trailer than towing my 1800lb w/no brakes on the trailer...
