I've towed our 2000+lb pop-up camper down to Carlsbad caverns (over Raton), over to Dallas, down to Houston and Galveston, and back. Did it with about 200K on the engine. The combo has been over I-70 (Eisenhower & Vail Pass) multiple times each way. You have to be willing to go 35mph in 2nd up the Georgetown-Silverplume pitch.

It has electric brakes. I don't think the drivetrain is as concerning as the brakes are.
