I agree.. sorta. You have to be careful about using anything in between the leaves and spring pad on a front steering axle. In the rear, sure no problem. But in the front, don't ever use the common variety aluminum shim... ever! That said, I have used shims on a front end before, but use steels shims which can be had from many of the fab vendors and I usually end up tacking them in place to the spring pad. That way there is very little chance of them breaking and/or getting ejected.
