I had my '93 tranny rebuilt twice. Does the $1600 include R&R? 1600-1800 is about right for a rebuilt with torque convertor. As has been said before, for safety sake use OEM fluid...

If you plan on keeping it do the rebuilt. Once rebuilt should last 200k more. Go the cheaper route if you can stick around town/motel in case the trans is the wrong part.
