I have a rough idle on my 1993 4x4 with the 22re in it. It has about 125000 miles. I have had the o2 sensor code come up before but had it looked at and my mechanic said it seemed to be working fine. Can a bad O2 sensor cause a rough idle once truck has been warmed up?
Also where is the cheapest place to get a "factory" sensor from? Thanks for any help

An O2 sensor code doesn't always mean that the O2 sensor is bad.

I believe the O2 sensor is not in use during idle - so, no, it's something else.

I believe the O2 sensor is not in use during idle - so, no, it's something else. Why would it not be in use during idle? I would think the ECU needs to know what the A/F ratio is no matter what the rpm. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

My A/F gauge flicks back and forth at idle most of the time, although slower than normal. So I think the sensor is being read and the fuel mixture adjusted over time.

OK I will try tapping the egr and see what it does. I might just go ahead and take it out and clean it with some carb cleaner since it has never been done. Thanks guys you have been a big help

Got a vaccum tester? the FSM has a great set of egr and related parts that will diagnose the rough idle. You thermostat can end up causing that if the temperature sensor doesnt get hot it wont open the egr valve. Its easy to test though and eliminates the guessing.
