Check engine light came on, had the codes pulled. Results: P0440 EVAP SYSTEM PROBLEM P0464 P0463 FUEL LEVEL SENDING CIRCUIT HIGH
Solution: Replace the charcoal canister. Parts from local dealer: $123.38 Labor: $ 32.50 Tax: $ 9.90 Total (local shop) $165.78
Charcoal canister from St. Charles delivered to my door: $ 85.32 <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Thanks Merlin! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
Question:
If I install the canister myself will the check engine light turn off? I presume that the codes would likely remain in the memory until it is read and cleared again. But would the light go off?
I could pay the shop the $32.50 to install it for me which would include having the codes cleared. Which might be worth the hassle; never swaped out a charcoal canister but it dosn't look much harder than a fuel fileter. Anyone had an experiance with these things?
Thanks, -UteTroop
