Getting the Wheeling Fever
Any knowledge around for getting the trim metal off the topper? I need to change some glass, also I'd like to replace a rusty trim strip on this baby. Thanks!

Check 4Crawler's website; I believe he's got a writeup.

I just did this a while back.

The whole window frame has to be removed from the hard top. It's held in place by "butyl" tape, which is a thick rubbery adhesive. What your going to do is get a good sharp razor knife, and cut the seal by sticking the knife in between the window frame and the fiberglass top. Cut all the way around the window frame. Then the whole window frame complete with the glass and the metal trim will separate from the top. Then you will be able to access the screws that hold the metal L strips.

To get the glass in and out, there is a cross brace screwed into the window frame. Undo this by removing the screws located on the top and bottom of the frame. This will allow you to bend the frame a little so the glass can slip in and out.

You'll need to find some butyl tape to reinstall the window frame. I had to call a few auto shops before I found it. It goes by a few different names, butyl tape, window tape, sticky tape. I think the one I bought was made by 3m and it came in a few different diameters and in a box in a roll. Try auto parts stores, auto glass shops, or RV part stores.

Also check out the thread in this forum for the fiberglass L trim pieces that are coming soon.
