If the build plate is still intact under the hood, you can get the manufacture date off that... Just above the word TRANS, you see two letters, slash, two letters. This is the build date in code. A=zero B=one C=two, etc etc ... just remember that A=zero when you are counting. This example is AJ/IH = 09/87 C/YA! They have the white sticker on the door post - that's it. I have two diesel 1986 Troopers, a 94 Trooper, a 97 Trooper and a 98 Trooper. I use to own a 95 Trooper, a 1987 Trooper and a two other 1986 Troopers. They all had the build plates except the 4 1986s. The non-86s had the plate (not sure on the 87) but the 86s did not have the black build plate in the engine compartment. If they have one somehere else, I don't know about it.
