OK i was cutting today with some Harbor freight blades on my 4.5 inch angle grinder... and something bad happened...
Part of the blade shattered and the grinder caught on a tack weld i was cutting off... It then bounced off my safety goggles, and cut through my breathing mask and this is what i ended up with...

I think it is important for people to know what happens when you skimp on your stuff..

Mods if this is not allowed, i am sorry, and feel free to delete it.

Dont look at that link if you are easily grossed out...

It is 13 stitches and 4 butterfly strips, and one heck of a scar to brag about hahaha.....

That is all

Peace

Wow!!! I'm sorry to hear of your bad experience, what a bummer. :-( I've literally gone through hundreds of HF 4" griding and/or cut off blades for my Makita. I've had them grab, and tear *BIG* chunks of the blade, just never been unfortunate enough to get hit with a big piece of it.

I'm glad you're more or less OK.

Wow. Glad you're okay, relatively speaking. That was one hell of a wound.

I'm guilty of skimping a'la Harbor Freight. Things like this remind me how stupid it is to sacrifice quality for price in critical parts.

Ouch. Thats pretty scary. Ive had that happen on a much smaller scale with a dremel cutoff blade. It went into my unprotected knee at about 4 quadrillion miles per hour, and went in 1/4 an inch. Didnt hurt too bad, but it was deffinitely scary, and made me glad i was wearing safety glasses.

One heck of a story to tell, later on. You deffinitely get an award for one of the highest carnages while working on a 'zu.

One of the hazards of working on any vehicle , especialy older ones that are rusty , and have a chance of sending particles at you , as well as tools breaking and sending things flying at you.
Thats why I wear a full face shield now when I do stuff like that. After a couple of times flying particles get up under the safety glases and into the eye , its just not worth it to take a chance on losing part of your vision.Luckily my experiences they got the stuff out , and I only had to wear a patch for a couple of days. The full face shield has saved me a few times , and for the little expense , well worth it.I even wear it just crawling under the trooper because of all the dirt , rust , and old oil and stuff under there than can fall in your face.

I have one of these UVEX Bionic face shields. Very worthwhile investment Well, mine was a Christmas present... but it would have been a very worthwhile investment had I paid for it...

Glad you weren't hurt too too badly. I'm sure that is going to smart for awhile... but it beats taking it in the eye or neck
