Need a Spot
I just recently finished over hauling my 20R for my 1980 Yota we got the engine in place and bolted up, and I replaced the solenoid contacts in the starter put it all back together, and placed it in the truck I got the wires all hooked up and when I got to the ground cable to the battery it started to turn over by itself? So is the problem inside at the contacts or did I not put it back together right?

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I WOULD CHECK TO SEE IF YOU PUT THE CONTACTS BACK INTO THE SOLENOID CORRECTLY. ALSO CHECK YOUR WIRES, ARE THEY HOOKED UP CORRECTLY?

fixed it. One of the contacts was not exactly like the replaced one and it was making contact with one of the connections inside creating a permanant contact so that when the cables were hooked up and the curciut was complete is caused the starter to go on its own. but we got it now. we'll have it running tonight <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> thanks for the info from everyone it's greatly appreciated
