Mine made moise for awhile and I did nothing. ended up replacing the cable.The instrument cluster comes out pretty easy on the 1st gen runners. I beleive the 2nd gens are more work. I would say most definately the problem. I had this issue on all three toyota p/u's I've owned or still own.
