Mine is also an 84. 1971-1980 and 1988-90 258 engines have 1/2 inch Head Bolts. 1981 through 1987 engines have 7/16" Head Bolts. that was from another thread in jeep talk and jp wrote it i knew i didnt loose my mind lol. so as long as you have the 71-80 or 88-90 258 you will be fine with no other mods but as i stated the 81-87 you will have to drill and tap. out of all the jeeps in this town the d**n gremlin had to invade mine I've done so much,with so little for so long i can practicly do anything with nothing Re: Anyone put a 4.0L head on a 4.2L? Cliffords Performance has a set of 4 for $20.
