I have had it with replacing the ignition switch wireing harness once a year. If my batt. isn't exactly 11.8 volts or higher it just wont start. click click .....

Has anyone heard of or experienced any negative side effects of the starter relay switch mod as explained here http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=287065&page=1?

just so I dont get this confused this is the connector here that is the one in question right ?
[Linked Image]

And this is the wire that is supposed to be cut and connected to the batt. correct? My index finger is on it(Male side of connector wire # 4)?
[Linked Image]

So I need to cut that after the male connector and connect #4 directly to the Pos+ of the batt correct? and then of course cap off and tapeup the harness side of it

Thanks for any help, I just dont want to be cutting and spliceing things incorrectly.

Oh almost forgot this is a 88 22re so it may not be the exact same but it does to me <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Edit crap well it looks like I have confused myself
I think I might be wrong on the wire. In the picture I am pointing to the wire that is under the Black/Red
I think it should the be one directly under the Black/White If I am reading the wiring diagram right
Man I suck at wiring <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" />
Can anyone give me a hand really Quick ?
Thanks again
Jed

Here is what I did for mine (I used the Painless Wiring starter relay kit):

Works well, only need to splice into the wire at the starter solenoid, I used a male-female connector there so I could use the starter normally or with the relay just by swapping connections.

Hey 4Crawler,
I think I am going to give this a try for now cause I need to fix asap could you tell me if I am looking at it correctly?
I am not good at reading wire diagrams so I cant tell if it's either the black wire just below the B/W wire or the other black wire below the B/R wire.

Hey btw did you ever get your JC Whitney fender falres installed this winter?
Thanks
Jed

Don't know about those wires, as I have never looked into that on my truck, since it probably doesn't have a starter relay or clutch cancel switch.

Still have to finish cutting and rebuilding my fenders before installing the rubber fender flares.
