I notice that you have used 1/4 and 3/16 inch thick steel plate when building your bumpers. Have you ever considered using 1/8 inch thick steel with some 3/16 for support?

Yeah the first few bumpers that I've made were alittle over built. I even think that the ARB's are 1/8" with heavy gussets. If I ever make another second gen trooper rear bumper I might make it out of 1/8" with alot of gussets.

I've got another question for you trooper guys. How differnt are the rear frames on an 86 trooper vs, my 89 trooper? I know the frame were different, but how different rear frame areas??

I've also got a few proto types going on <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I tried to take a pic but dang digital eats batteries like a dang pacman. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

Off topic but thought I would help out with this issue..

Dont use alkaline batteries for digital cameras, they cant take the power requirements. Go to radio shack and get some NiMh batteries (2000 mAH ones or higher work best). They are rechargable and can take the load of digital cameras much better. With mine alkalines would last maybe 10-15 pics. I get close to 100 pics with NiMh batteries.

Now you can return to on topic posts.

Well I tried one of my rear bumpers on Steve's(Boblarge) amigo. The mounts are the same but the body is alittle different. The bumper is about 1/2" -3/4" too high to open the door. The bumper thats on it is setup for a first gen trooper. Its pretty close really. I'd just have to modify the trooper mounts. Also the amigo is wider then a first gen trooper by about 5" So I'd have to get a 65" peice of tube.
