Ok, getting the Toyota type signs the alternator is starting to go. I want something that is drop in to the stock locatioon without doing a butt load of fab work. I have done searches both here and pirate4x4.com and found three options. One of which (opt 4) I actually found and I was wondering if anyone has dealt with this guy in the past.

Opt 1. Replace OEM 60A
Opt 2. Mr Alternator - Toyota 150A for $210
Opt 3. Fab up mounting for a S10 140A Alternator $140-160
Opt 4. Get a HO Bolt in replacement from Ace Alternators 160A for $160

Here is the Ace Alternators link. Anyone here dealt with them or know any feedback about them?

Never dealt with the guy, but how about a 4th option:

4. Mobi-Arc stock alternator upgrade kit.

I looked at the Mobi Arc stuff. Don't they only go up to like 90A? I would only see a gain of 33% - and after KC's, a winch and hopefully a stereo down the road I might blow past the 90A mark easy! I just don't want to do something now which I will have to upgrade in a year or so!

I see MR. Alternator only offers a 12 month warrenty, and so does the company/guy I inquired about. Powermaster may be another choice.

I have not dealt with him but I do have the Mr Alternator one on my 4Runner. It works ok but the engine has to be running at 1000 rpm or more for any output, mine idles at 850 rpm. It sucks to be at a light and have your lights dim because you have only 12.5 v battery power and then step on the throttle and watch your lights get bright again at 14 v.

I have been looking into the GM 10SI alternator, Powermaster #PWM-47294 140 amp from Summit Racing. I have an extra bracket and just need the time to modify it and it would put out 101 amps at idle. If your interested, here is a few sites that might help.

Thanks for the heads up with the Mr. Alternator thing. I asked the guy from Ace what numbers his ALT's run at. Here is his initial response to my first question about "are these gutted and R&R everything or are the Remans only replacing what is worn out."

Again now I am awaiting the response to what do his alternators put out @ idle, what RPM for full 160A and so on. When I get something back I'll let y'all know!

Welp, I got a good response from the guy @ Ace Alternators. I personally am going to get one when money is good to go! I think it would be the best choice in my situation. Here is what he states the numbers are for his 160amp alternators for the 22RE:

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. We're having some connection problems. But anyway the HO Alt. will produce 75amps at idle and 160amps at 2000RPMS.

Question is, at what rpm is his idle when his alternator putting out 75 amps? If its around 700-800 then it would be good for my truck.

Ever thought of an under(over?)drive pully for the alternator to make it spin slightly faster than the motor? I remember reading something about this.......sorry I can't remember where.

I broke down and bought an Ace about 6 months ago.Its a small case denso with all the high amp goodies inside.I am impressed especially for the price.Amps are plentiful although the voltage goes up when I hit the gas,but that could be a connection problem.It charges so well I dont even worry about it.I went to a speaker shop and got some 4 gauge cable and wired it straight to the battery.For the money the ace cant be beat,plus there are no mods to fab up.I was a little worried about the long term,being that its a small case{lots of heat buildup},but it hasnt given me the slightest hitch so far.Good alt,I would buy again.
