Anyone done this conversion?

I have a 4G63 Turbo Cyclone strong running motor and a 86 Montero with a blown motor, I am interested in putting the Eclipse 2.0l turbo engine into the Montero and I am wondering if anyone else has done this. I know the StarQuest swap is popular and I know lots of StarQuesters like to put this (4G63T) motor into their rides, in place of the 2.6 so it shouldn't be too difficult, I am only worried about the motor mounts and the trannie mating. Just looking for some input on putting these together, and I do have a 5-speed.

Or even any input on making an adapter plate for the trans to motor, and what to do about the motor mounts. I know Buschur Racing makes a kit to put the 4G63T into the StarQuests but its extremely overpriced.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Garrett.

THe green wires are there because he wanted to run all his grounds to the battery I think he could have done a cleaner job of it but here are the pics.

I would ask "Why?", but only to hear the punch line. That's almost as comical as putting a 2.0L engine in a SWB.

Well thanks for the pics. But it doesn't look like the 2.0 liter 4G63 turbo, at least not the one I am planning on using (DOHC Multi-port injection). Maybe thats a pre-90 model 4G63T. But thanks, Garrett.

And again anyone have any ideas on mating the 4G63 to the factory 86 Montero 5-speed? Any input is appreciated.

I think you'll have to find a pre-87 Mitsu/Dodge pickup truck that had the 4g63 sohc motor to find a transmission case to fit yours, and swap in your tranny internals (I "think" this will work) and tailshaft housing. The motor mounts are the easy part, and the 2.6 mounts may bolt right up to the 2.0, or be easlily modified (whiz wheel and welder) to fit.

However, I think it would be easier to sell the 2.0 and fix the 2.6 and turbo that, and I don't think you'll be happy with the results of loading a 2.0 with that much mass...
