Has anyone run these lights? wondering if they actually perform like they say or if it's all hype and BS. My other option would be a Xtravision from sylvania like I currently have. I'm wonderinf if all they do is coat the Xtravisions to filter out the yellow light.

I've been running them for a while now, they're pretty bright, much better than standard lights. I'm not going back the next time I replace my lights because I have to replace them on a pretty regular basis. I've bought five of them since summer of '03, too bad because I really like the light.

Again, same as Roger. I have his upgraded wiring harness adn the Hella Vision Plus headlights, and they are as bright if not brighter than the lights on my wife's 2002 Ford Explorer. I have not had any issues in almost 2 years and am very happy, especially with the high beams off road. I still have the bulbs that came with the Hella's also....
The upgraded wiring harness makes a world of difference and installs in 30 minutes while drinking beer and watching TV....
Thanks, James

well i'll forget the Silverstars... I've heard to many people having them burn out faster. and for that price... i want some reliability. I've had Xtravisions since I bought my 4runner about 2.5yrs ago and they're only now getting dim i think... I guess I'll do the harness upgrade 1st. but almost 3yrs on a set of lights is probly good enough... I should just pick up a set for the sake of it soon. thanks guys.

Thanks, James Those Hella bulbs seem to last forever. I think I bought the Hella VisionPlus lamps I now have on my 4Runner about 10-15 years ago (they have been on 3 different vehicles over that time). At the time, I picked up a spare bulb and I still have that spare, never used it. The original bulbs were still going strong when I put in the 55/100s about 3 years ago. Nice thing with the H4s is you can swap bulbs and it is easy to carry a spare if you need it.

i've only had my silverstars for about a month or so and they work really good for me. on the freeway they light up two lanes on either side of my truck. i couldnt even see my old lights touch the ground. i wish i would have learned that these lights have an issue with burning out because they are a little spendy if they burn out as often as some of you have experienced

I've had the Silverstars on our tow rig, with an upgraded wiring harness, for a year or so without issues. As with any bulb, it's important not to touch the bulb itself during installation.

I too just got the SS's because they don't offer the Cool Blue's anymore! They were $25.99 a piece and I like the light they throw however if they crap out I will upgrade via 4Crawler's tech write up!

i think thats the way to go. i melted a connector on my 89 Vette using 100W bulbs. I think the upgraded harness and some like 55W low beams and 80 or 100W Hi beams is the ticket.
