just a general question about d60. How much bigger are they? reason i ask because i saw an ad in the paper for a 73 cj5 with d60 front and rear with a 304 and fiberglass tub. didnt know if it was worth a look. should have good size lift wouldnt you think?

physically... i remember d60's being mentioned in here before and if i remember correcly they stated that they have a really large pumkin. which would need a big lift and or tires to get any kind of clearance. just wondering if i remembered it right.

Well I don't know the exact outer physical dimensions. The dana 35 has 7 and 9/16 ring gear on it, and the dana 60 has 9 and 3/4 ring gear to it. SO the housing is at least 2 inches bigger than the dana 35 to fit the extra gear size. But since it is a heavier duty axle assembly, there is generally more metal to take more of the force. If I remember correctly you lose about 5" of ground clearance over the dana 35.
Maybe SD can get us a picture of a 35 sitting next to a 60?

i thought you would loose ground clearance. yes a pict would be nice... i could also go and take a look at the cj too. they were asking $3000 think its worth it? although it is a cj5 i'm not too sure about them, dont know about them being more narrow and shorter. me would think it would have a bad turn over rate.. high center of gravity. but doesnt hurt to take a looky.

Bt, If it runs good and is clean... people have been known to pay that much for a carbed jeep... i have seen some cj's sale for as much as a new jeep!!!! if i was to walk into a very nice and no rust cj that has been taken care of , i would be willing to pay as much as $4000 to $5000 for a realy good one . but the only reason i would pay that is because people know that the old cj's can be sold for alot of money . the reason is that they know that if you are looking at a cj it is because you want a cj not a wrangler . same thing with old mustanges and cameros.

It was in real good shape, auto hard top, and a 4.2 w/offenhauser intake and holly carb on it. They wanted, are you ready??? $6995! I just shook my head and walked away.

ford f250's have high pinion dana 60's in the front end :p Sorry, but no. An F250 either has a Dana 44 or a Dana 50. Only the F 350 had the HP Dana 60. Some F350s (80-84) only had the Dana 50.
