ford f250's have high pinion dana 60's in the front end :p

Sorry, but no. An F250 either has a Dana 44 or a Dana 50. Only the F350 had the HP Dana 60. Some F350s (80-84) only had the Dana 50.

So reign is right f250's had a hp d60, but to be exact here is how it goes.
67-79 f 250s had d44's in 74 and 75 they had a hp closed knuckle d 60 as an option on heavy duty and 76-77 they had a open knuckle hp d 60 on crew cabs and snow fighters.
As for the d 50's i dont know much about them but i belive they were pre 02 but how far back they went i dont know.Dodge w200,250,300,and 350 also had d44s and d60's on the front ends from 72-93.GM used d44's gm 10 bolt and d 60's73-76 d 44's77-87 they had all 3.
i am not sure on the years newer than i listed but the point is if you go to a bone yard one of the big 3 will have them.Dont limit yourself just to the 3/4 tons either look at one tons also to improve your chances

I read reign's statement to apply to all F250s, which just isn't so. Yes the snowfighters and crew cabs had the D60 for two years. Now try to find one still in existence. Generally speaking nobody should expect to find a Dana 60 under an F250. Chances are better to get a winning lotto ticket.

The Dana 50 goes back to 1980 with the introduction of the Twin Traction Beam front suspension.

that is why i also listed GM and DODGE as having d60's ,with dodge being a better chance in the location of a d60. I should know that, dad has several of them.I just dont know what it is about chryslers and danas but they worked together for many many years.

So what did Dodge and Chevys having Dana 60s have to do with finding one under an F250???

I fail to see the relation, only a tangent. Dana 60's aren't hard to find from under Fords. That wasn't the point. The point was that finding one under an F250 specifically is like finding a needle in a haystack. The important qualified is D60 in F250, not Ford in general.

Maybe SD can get us a picture of a 35 sitting next to a 60?

CSP, That would be nice, but all the 35s are in the scrapper (or should be).

Here is the real deal, unless you are a total throttle jockey and run 38"+ tall tires they are NOT needed.
A well built d44 with a somewhat sane driver and 38"max tires can work very well and NOT leave you having spent all your hard earned cash and no money to go wheeling with it.

I build and ship axles anywhere in the US.
