How about going in with a Sawzall and a fine metal blade, cutting a longitudinal slice through the bushing shell. Once you have that slot in there, I should think a few whacks with a hammer would knock 'em loose.

They do show the tool in the shop manual, looks like it wouldn't be too hard to fashion a remover installer from some black pipe and some good grade 8 bolts/nuts and washers. How were you gonna install the new ones ?
